The United Way chapter in Thomas County, Georgia is holding a kickoff for their annual fundraiser. Warrick Dunn once starred in the state and he is returning to speak at the event.
The kickoff will be held on August 30th at noon at The Plaza Restaurant in Thomasville. Their goal for the campaign is to raise $228,000.
Reservations are required to attend and sponsorships are also available. Dunn will talk about his journey to success in football and life.
Dunn first made waves as a three-time first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer at Florida State. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft and he went on to win Rookie of the Year honors.
Dunn spent the first five seasons of his career with the Buccaneers and made two of his three Pro Bowl trips with the franchise. Dunn had three 1,000-yard seasons in six years with the Atlanta Falcons.
Dunn spent one final season with Tampa Bay before retiring in 2008. He has also long been known for his work in the community and is a member of the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
