John Cooper reached the pinnacle of his career in coaching at Ohio State. He is making an appearance in the state next month as the keynote speaker at the Meigs County Chamber of Commerce Gala.
The event takes place November 2nd at the Middleport Church of Christ Family Life Center. There will be a meet and greet with Cooper at 5 p.m., where attendees will be allowed to take pictures and get autographs.
There are limited tickets still available for the gala. In addition to Cooper's presentation, dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and several awards will be handed out.
Cooper coached at Ohio State from 1988-2000 and racked up 111 victories, which ranks second in school history. He guided the Buckeyes to three Big Ten Conference championships.
Cooper also led Arizona State to a Pac-10 title in 1986 and was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year. He began his head coaching career at Tulsa and won five straight Missouri Valley Conference championships.
In 2008, Cooper was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame and the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame.
