An entirely new generation of sports enthusiasts has come to appreciate former All-Star John Kruk through his television appearances over the years. Kruk will speak to a group that primarily associates him with his work at ESPN as the keynote speaker at the Southwest Florida Sports Awards.
The event takes place on May 23rd at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall in Fort Myers. It is being hosted by The News-Press and the Naples Daily News.
150 student-athletes from Lee and Collier counties will be recognized for their achievements. Tickets are currently on sale and sponsorships are also available.
Kruk played for three franchises from 1986-1995, but he is best known for his time with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was named an All-Star three straight seasons from 1991-93.
Kruk helped the Phillies win the National League pennant in 1993 and hit .348 in the World Series. He finished his with a .300 career batting average and 100 home runs.
Kruk was one of ESPN's most popular baseball analysts from his start in 2004 through the 2016 season. He is now part of the Phillies broadcast team on Comcast SportsNet and is a member of the Philadelphia Wall of Fame.
