Former WWE Star David Otunga Speaks at Anti-Bullying Event at East Carolina University

A former WWE star shared a special message with students at East Carolina University last Thursday. David Otunga was on campus as part of Pledge Purple Week.

Pledge Purple Week is an event that highlights a year where ECU has advocated against sexual assault, violence and bullying. Otunga was able to speak out against bullying.

He talked about taking a stand against bullies and also offered encouragement to those who might be suffering from bullying. Otunga regularly spreads the word about anti-bullying campaigns in engagements across the world.

Otunga is a former two-time WWE Tag Team Champion. He first joined the organization on a developmental contract in 2008 with Florida Championship Wrestling.

In 2010, Otunga was featured on the first season on NXT and finished as runner-up. He then gained a greater platform in WWE, joined the Nexus Tag Team and was named Rookie of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.

Otunga left the competition end of the business in 2015 and focused on a career in broadcasting. He now works as a commentator with the WWE on their SmackDown brand.
