Golf Hall of Famer Curtis Strange Named Lead On-Course Reporter for Fox

After getting the contract to televise United States Golf Association events last year, Fox Sports needed to add quite a bit of broadcasting talent to their roster.  That process continues with Fox hiring veteran golf broadcaster and former PGA pro Curtis Strange to be their lead on-course reporter.

Last week, Strange signed a three-year deal with the network.  He will still work this year's Masters for ESPN before switching over for his first event with Fox, May's U.S. Amateur Four-Ball.

Strange has been a tower analyst for ESPN.  He has also been the lead golf analyst at ABC and a hole announcer for ESPN, but this new gig will be his first time as an on-course reporter.

As the winner of the 1988 and 1989 U.S. Opens, Strange is a perfect fit to share his thoughts on the telecasts of the USGA's premier event.  That period of time marked the pinnacle of his playing career, as he spent 200 weeks in the top ten of the World Golf Rankings between 1989-1990.

Overall, Strange won 17 times on the PGA Tour.  He became the first player to top one million in Tour winnings and finished on top of the money list in 1885, 1987, and 1988.

Strange was also the 1988 PGA Tour Player of the Year.  He is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
