Golf Icon Jack Nicklaus Speaks at School Benefit Dinner

As a six-time Masters winner, Jack Nicklaus has had many great moments in the state of Georgia. Last week, he was back in the state as the special speaker at a benefit dinner for Georgia Christian School.

The Valdosta State Student Union was packed to hear from the golf icon. Nicklaus participated in a question and answer session where he touched on an array of topics ranging from his golf career to his passion for pediatric health care.

The advice he delivered to GCS students that were in attendance was to try everything while they are young and find what they excel in.

Nicklaus spoke from experience as a former three-sport star and one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century. He won a record 18 major golf championships and ranks third all-time with 73 PGA Tour wins.

Nicklaus accomplished many impressive feats throughout his playing career, including becoming the youngest player to win all four majors and the first to notch career double and triple grand slams. In 1986, he became the oldest Masters winner when he was 46.

After his competitive career, Nicklaus achieved massive success running one of the world's largest golf course design companies. He also heads the annual PGA Tour event, the Memorial Tournament.
