Hall of Fame baseball manager Tony La Russa has made a great impact on the Arizona Diamondbacks franchise as their Chief Baseball Officer. In June, he will get to try to make a positive impact on the Phoenix community.
La Russa is speaking at The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon on June 10th. He will discuss methods to keep employees motivated and how to achieve success.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets for members are $35 and $60 for non-members.
With 2,728 victories, La Russa has the third-most wins of any manager in baseball history. He won three World Series, six league pennants, and 12 division championships over a 33-year managerial career.
La Russa began his career as a skipper with the Chicago White Sox in 1979. He also managed the Oakland A's to a World Series crown in 1989, but is best known for his more recent run with the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Cardinals have retired his number and made him a member of the team's Hall of Fame. In 2012, La Russa published the memoir "One Last Strike" that became a New York Times bestseller.
