The legacy that Hall of Fame pitcher Steve Carlton left on the mound can not be forgotten. He will talk about his exploits in baseball this November as the keynote speaker at the fourth annual "Thanks for Giving" luncheon.
The event will be held on November 17th at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Proceeds benefit The Janus School, which helps students in grades K-12 with learning disabilities.
Individual tickets are $90 and sponsorship packages that include a VIP reception with Carlton are also available. Sign-in and networking take place from 11 a.m. to noon followed by lunch.
Carlton had a major league career that spanned 24 seasons. He collected the majority of his over 300 wins and 4,000 strikeouts during a 15-year tenure with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Carlton was a ten-time All-Star and the first pitcher to win four Cy Young Awards. In 1972, he won the pitching Triple Crown and won nearly half of the games for the last-place Phillies.
In 1980, he helped Philadelphia win the World Series. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994 and is a member of the Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Fame.
