Many fans of the St. Louis Cardinals were excited to see one of the team's living legends doing well this weekend. Hall of Famer Lou Brock made an appearance at the 30th annual Quincy Mall baseball card show.
Brock's appearance was the first he has made since he was declared cancer-free after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma last April. He spoke to the crowd during a private meet-and-greet in the Community Room.
Later, Brock headed to Fountain Court to sign autographs. There were several people who showed up to express their well wishes and share stories from his playing days with the former standout.
Brock is a member of the 3,000-hit club and ranks second in baseball history with 938 stolen bases. He led the National League in steals eight times.
Brock was a six-time All-Star and he won two World Series titles with the Cardinals. In 1974, he finished runner-up in NL MVP voting.
Brock was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985 and the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame in 2014. He has served as a special instructor for St. Louis for a number of years.
