Roberto Alomar is still a celebrated Toronto Blue Jays legend. On Saturday, he will meet some adoring fans at an autograph signing in Cornwall, Ontario.
Alomar is going to be on hand for the opening of a new Rogers store on Brookdale Avenue. The event takes place in front of the store from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Each autograph signed equals a $10 donation to the Children's Treatment Centre. They are hoping to raise at least $2,500 over the hour and a half.
Alomar is one of the greatest second basemen of all-time and won a record ten Gold Gloves at his position. He was also a 12-time All-Star and also won four Silver Slugger Awards.
Alomar originally debuted with the San Diego Padres, but won back-to-back World Series with the Blue Jays in 1992 and 1993. In 1992, he was named Most Valuable Player of the American League Championship Series.
Alomar was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011 and has his number retired by Toronto. He is currently a Special Advisor to the Blue Jays.
