With Minnesota Vikings fans feeling playoff fever, it is the perfect time for some of the franchise's legends to interact with the public in the Twin Cities. Hall of Famers Carl Eller and Randall McDaniel highlighted an autograph signing session held Friday at the world famous Mall of America.
The signing was from 6-8 p.m. at the Vikings Locker Room Store. Eller was joined by former Minnesota wide reciever John Gilliam for the first hour while McDaniel and former defensive end Henry Thomas will take over in the second hour.
A limited number of wristbands for the event were distrbuted starting at 4 p.m. Fans could also enter to win two tickets to Sunday's home NFC Wild Card showdown with the Seattle Seahawks.
Eller was no stranger to winning during his Vikings career. He went to four Super Bowls and won ten Central Division titles with the franchise.
As the all-time leader in Minnesota with 130 sacks, Eller went to six Pro Bowls, was a five-time first-team All-Pro, and named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1971 by NEA. In retirement, he worked for the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
McDaniel was an even more decorated player and considered one of the best offensive guards in league history. He went to 12 Pro Bowls and a was a nine-time first-team All-Pro pick.
McDaniel started 220 games over 13 seasons and shares the record for most Pro Bowls played. He also left a legacy at Arizona State, where he helped the program win the 1987 Rose Bowl and is a member of Ring of Honor Society.
