Papa John's announced last week that they have gone into business with one of the biggest names in hockey.  The pizza maker signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin.

They started the partnership off with The Ovechkin Wish Special.  Customers in the Washington, Maryland, and Virginia areas can purchase two medium, one topping pizzas and $1 will be donated to the Make-A-Wish-Foundation's Mid-Atlantic Chapter. 

Papa John's also gave away 500 pizzas on their Instagram account to celebrate Ovechkin reaching the 500 goal milestone.  Next month, they will start to roll out a promotional campaign and in-arena elements featuring the prolific scorer. 

Ovechkin is the fifth fastest player in NHL history to 500 goals.  This season he is second in the league with 28 goals and boasts 42 points.  

On Sunday, Ovechkin will participate in his seventh All-Star game.  He is also a three-time winner of the Hart Memorial MVP Trophy and has lead the NHL in goals five times.  

Ovechkin is the only player to be named a first-team All-Star in each of his first five seasons.  He has led the Capitals to the playoffs six times and participated in three Olympics for Russia.
