Iconic Trainer D. Wayne Lukas Speaks at AQHA Racing Champions Ceremony Next Wednesday

The 2016 AQHA Racing Champions Ceremony is bringing out one of the biggest names in the sport to speak. Iconic trainer D. Wayne Lukas is scheduled to be in attendance next Wednesday at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and there will be a live webcast of the proceedings. In addition to Lukas' presentation, the winners will be announced.

The ceremony should be a great opportunity for horse racing enthusiasts to hear from a man who has shaped the sport in immeasurable ways. It precedes the Heritage Park Winter Mixed Sale which runs January 19-21.

Lukas holds the all-time record for trainers with 14 Triple Crown race wins and 20 victories in Breeder's Cup events. He started his tremendous run in the sport in 1980 when his horse, Codex, won the Preakness Stakes.

In 1995, Lukas made history by becoming the first trainer to have two horses sweep the three Triple Crown events. He has won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Trainer four times.

Lukas won the Eclipse Award of Merit in 2013. He is a member of the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame and the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.
