Longtime Kansas State head football coach Bill Synder has had a special week. Tuesday night, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and served as the keynote speaker at the National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame banquet.
Synder was picked to represent all 17 inductees with his speech at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. He spoke about his discussed career and the common thread that connects all the honorees.
Over 2,000 people turned out for the banquet. Kansas State also held a private party for Snyder on Monday to celebrate his achievement.
Snyder is one of four coaches who have still been active while being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In 2016, he will embark on his 25th season as the Wildcats head coach.
Overall, Snyder is 193-100-1 and has led KSU to Big 12 Championships in 2003 and 2012. He is a four-time Big 12 Coach of the Year, won three Big 8 Coach of the Year awards, and has been honored as National Coach of the Year several times.
Kansas State has finished the season ranked in the top 25 13 times under Snyder’s watch. He has also produced 10 consensus first-team All-Americans and 12 of his assistant coaches have gone on to be head coaches in college football.
