The Ocean City Knights of Columbus recently hosted a successful local coach at their Communion breakfast. La Salle University men's basketball coach John Giannini spoke at the eighth annual event. 

The breakfast took place on October 22nd at the Great Bay Country Club. Giannini spoke about how important family, community and faith are for a young person's life. 

Proceeds from the event benefited St. Damien's youth ministry, educational scholarships and local charities. There was a memorial Mass following the breakfast. 

Giannini is in his 19th year as the head coach of the Explorers. In his second season, La Salle recorded their first winning season in 13 years. 

Giannini led the program to their highest point in 2013 when they won 24 games and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. He came to La Salle from Maine, where he recorded four winning seasons in eight years. 

Giannini had great success on the Division III level with his first head coaching opportunity at Rowan University. The program reached the NCAA Division III Final Four three times and won the 1996 DIII National Championship.
