Legendary quarterback Joe Montana has a chance to inspire a new generation of athletes on June 4th. Montana is the keynote speaker at the Springfield News-Leader’s Best of Southwest Missouri Preps event.
The event will start at 6:00 at the University Plaza Convention Center. The public can purchase tickets for $50 at http://www.news-leader.com/swmopreps.
During the evening, a slew of athletes from 13 counties and 19 different sports will be honored in addition to hearing from Montana.
There are not many more individuals as iconic in football history. Montana led the San Francisco 49ers to four Super Bowl titles and was a three-time Super Bowl MVP.
The eight-time Pro Bowler won two NFL MVP awards. He holds most significant Niners passing records, had his number retired by the team, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Many of those assembled at the Best of Southwest Missouri Preps will also remember Montana from wrapping up his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played his last two seasons with the Chiefs and led them to the postseason each year.
In retirement, Montana has stayed active with different business interests and is still sought after as a corporate pitchman.
