Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is certainly a hockey-crazed city. The best broadcaster in the sport paid a visit there on November 3rd to speak to students eager to get into the business.
NBC Sports' Mike "Doc" Emrick was in town to speak at the Pittsburgh Center for Sports Media and Marketing. The event was held on the campus of Point Park University at the JVH Auditorium.
Emrick was able to talk about his impressive journey through broadcasting. He also actively worked towards inspiring the students to believe that their dreams are possible.
Since 2011, Emrick has been the lead play-by-play voice for the NHL on NBC. He also has covered multiple Winter and Summer Olympics for the network.
Prior to joining NBC on a full-time basis, Emrick was the voice of the New Jersey Devils on television for 18 years. Overall, he has spent 40 years covering professional hockey in some form.
Emrick is a four-time Emmy Award winner in the category of "best sports play-by-play personality." He is the first broadcaster to be inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.
