Former NFL head coach Dick Vermeil is a respected name in coaching. He is sure to be well-received when he keynotes the upcoming Nebraska Coaches Association Clinic.
Coaches from a variety of sports will travel to Lincoln from across the state. The clinic takes place in Lincoln at Concordia University July 25-27.
Vermeil's presentation is titled, "Common Sense Principles of Coaching." He will address the crowd in Concordia's main gym on July 25th from 9:50-11:20 a.m.
Vermeil is best known for guiding the St. Louis Rams to a 13-3 record and Super Bowl XXXIV title in 1999. That season, he was named NFL Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.
After two years as the head coach at UCLA, Vermeil got his first shot to be an NFL head coach with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1976. He went on to lead the Eagles to four playoff berths in seven seasons, including an appearance in Super Bowl XV.
Vermeil also served as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2001-05. He is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame and the St. Louis Football Ring of Honor.
