Los Angeles Chargers President John Spanos Speaks at Pasadena Quarterback Club Friday

The Los Angeles Chargers have been actively working to market to their new community. Los Angeles Chargers president John Spanos will be out and about on Friday speaking at the Pasadena Quarterback Club.

The event is taking place at the University Club. Tickets include a lunch buffet and are $25 for members and $30 for guests.

Muir high school football coach Antyone Sims will also talk about his team at the meeting. Next week, the Los Angeles Rams will make their pitch to the group with team president Kevin Demoff coming to speak.

The Spanos name has been associated with the Chargers franchise since John's grandfather Alex purchased the team in 1984. While family ownership may have made it easy to move up in the organization, John has taken a gradual approach to learning the business of football.

Spanos started in the organization as an assistant in the football operations department in 1995. He went to work in the NFL league office before returning as a full-time scout in 2003.

Spanos rose to the position of executive vice president of football operations before being named president in 2015. Since having an elevated decision-making position within the Chargers player personnel department, the team has drafted standouts like Jason Verrett, Melvin Gordon and Joey Bosa
