Mercedes-Benz has been working with popular American golfer Rickie Fowler since 2013, but the luxury automotive maker is extending their partnership. Fowler was an athlete they featured just in the U.S., but he has agreed to become their newest global brand ambassador.
The partnership also expands on the visibility of Mercedes-Benz. For the first time, Fowler is wearing the company logo on his apparel at this week's U.S. Open.
Fowler has appeared in several video campaigns and promoted various Mercedes vehicles in the past. He joins fellow golfers Martin Kaymer and Bernhard Langer as global brand ambassadors.
Heading into this weekend's festivities at Oakmont Country Club, Fowler is ranked fifth in the Official World Golf Rankings. Last year he had his best win to date, triumphing at the prestigious Players Championship.
In 2014, Fowler reeled off a banner campaign with a top five finish in each of the four major tournaments. He is one of four golfers including Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth to have accomplished that feat.
Since turning pro in 2009, Fowler has six career victories. He had an immediate impact the following year, winning the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award.
