MetroPCS took advantage of a high publicity weekend for mixed martial arts by releasing a new ad campaign featuring former UFC champion Anthony Pettis. The spot debuted just in time for Saturday's banner event, UFC 200.
The commercial is titled, "Wireless Figured Out". It promoted MetroPCS' Internet offer of unlimited data, talk and text for only $30.
In the ad, Pettis and his fan Stephanie are able to meet up for a game of ping pong after communicating through data services. MetroPCS has had an affiliation with the UFC since 2011 and works with several of their athletes.
Pettis is the former UFC Lightweight Champion. He won the belt with a submission victory over Benson Henderson in 2013 and reigned as champion for a year and a half.
In Pettis' run up to championship contention, he scored two Knockout of the Night performances against Joe Lauzon and Donald Cerrone. Prior to joining the UFC, Pettis was the WEC Lightweight Champion.
Pettis is 18-5 in his MMA career and currently ranked seventh in the UFC official lightweight rankings. He has been a pro fighter since 2007.
