Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier is one of the recent examples of successful players to come out of the Southern Miss program. He will return to his roots next month to keynote the Southern Miss Dugout Club banquet.
The 15th annual event will be held on February 3rd in the Thad Cochran Center. Prior to the 6 p.m. start time, Dozier will sign autographs from 4:45-5:45 p.m.
There will also be a silent auction and the opportunity to meet the 2018 Golden Eagles team. Individual tickets are $25 and seating is limited to the first 400 who register.
Dozier was selected by the Twins in the eighth round of the 2009 MLB Draft and made his big league debut in 2012. In 2014, he became the first Minnesota second baseman to hit over 20 home runs and steal more than 20 bases in a season.
The following year, Dozier was selected as an All-Star for the first time. In 2016, he hit a career-high 42 home runs and added 99 RBI.
Dozier has routinely been regarded as one of the best defensive second basemen in the game and won his first Gold Glove this past season. He also finished 11th in American League MVP voting and helped the Twins reach the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
