MLS Commissioner Don Garber Elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame

On Thursday, Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber got one of the higest honors anyone in American soccer can recieve.  He was elected into the National Soccer Hall of Fame 

Garber headlines the 2016 class that also features U.S. women's national team stars Brandi Chastain and Shannon MacMillan.  He was selected via the the Builder Ballot. 

The National Soccer Hall of Fame also has a new home.  It will now be headquartered at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, the home of FC Dallas. 

Garber has been commissioner of the MLS for 17 years.  He has guided the league through unprecedented growth, overseeing the addition of 13 expansion franchises. 

In addition, Garber is the CEO of Soccer United Marketing, a company that promotes properties like the CONCACAF Gold Cup, CONCACAF Champions League and the Mexican Soccer Federation.  Since 2005, the Sports Business Journal has included him annually among the top 50 most influential people in sports business. 

Prior to working with the MLS, Garber worked in the NFL for 16 years.  He served as the Director of Marketing and Senior Vice President of Business Development.
