Former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl will deliver the keynote speech at the second annual Greeley Tribune Best Preps Banquet in 2015. The banquet serves to honor the top student-athletes and coaches in Weld County. It is a joint effort by The Tribune, the City of Greeley’s ACE program and District 6 to provide a unique, dynamic experience to celebrate prep sports and share an evening with legendary NBA coach George Karl.
Karl played in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs in 1977 and 1978 and then turned his focus to coaching. In 1984 he was hired as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and would go on to serve as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Seattle SuperSonics, Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets over the next 25 years and tally 1,131 career wins. Karl retired in 2013 after earning the NBA Coach of the Year award.
