Indiana is a basketball mecaa and Oscar Robertson is one of the greats of the game. That pairing comes together when Robertson speaks at the Southeastern Indiana Boys' Basketball Tip-Off tomorrow.
The event is being hosted by Oldenburg Academy at the Batesville Knights of Columbus Hall. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and nine high school coaches from the region will begin speaking at 6:30 p.m.
Robertson's presentation will follow the coaches. Tickets to attend are $30 and they include an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner, beer and soft drinks.
Robertson was one of the more versatile players in league history. In a 14-year career, he made 12 All-Star teams and was an 11-time All-NBA performer.
During Robertson's second season, he became the first and only player to average a triple-double for a season. He spent the first decade of his career with the Cincinnati Royals and was the NBA MVP in 1964.
Later in his career, Robertson played with the Milwaukee Bucks and helped the franchise win their only championship 1971. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and was named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1996.
