It is not often that someone off the field or court of play steals headlines in sports. With looming collective bargaining discussions coming in the NBA, National Basketball Players Association executive director Michele Roberts will become as important a figure as anyone.
As a pioneering figure, Roberts has plenty of wisdom to impart on CAA's World Congress of Sports. She will be a part of the conference's opening panel titled, "At the Top of the Agenda: Issues, Trends, and Opinions You Need to Hear".
The World Congress of Sports runs April 13-14 at the JW Marriott in L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Registration to attend for Sports Business Journal subscribers is $1,695 and $1,895 for non-subscribers.
Roberts is the first woman to ever head a major American professional sports union. She officially assumed the role in July 2014.
Additionally, Roberts is also an attorney with the firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. From 2004-2011, she worekd for Akin Group and further built her reputation as a top trial lawyer.
Following graduation from law school at the University of California at Berkeley, Roberts started in the legal field as a public defender in Washington D.C. She currently serves as a adjunct professor at Harvard Law School and a American College of Trial Lawyers fellow.
