Evan Longoria has long been the cornerstone of the Tampa Bay Rays franchise. The 29-year-old star now has his very own shoe to go along with his popularity in the Bay Area.
New Balance launched the Evan Longoria x New Balance 530 last week. The sneaker, which retails for $160, has a casual look with suede and black denim elements.
Longoria’s debut with the Rays in 2008 coincided with the franchise’s first period of success after an initial decade of languishing near the bottom of the standings. After his first week in the big leagues, Tampa Bay signed him to a long-term contract extension and he ended up leading them to the World Series that year.
Longoria also won the Rookie of the Year in 2008 and started a run of three consecutive All-Star appearances. He is also known as one of the best defensive third basemen in baseball and has won two Gold Glove awards.
Already the Rays all-time leader in home runs and RBI, Longoria has helped the club to four playoff berths. With a contract signed through 2023, he hopes to be a Ray for life.
