Cincinnati's new football coach Luke Fickell is quickly making an impact in the community. On February 28th, he will speak at the National Football Foundation's "That's My Boy" Award banquet.
The event is being held at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. There are several finalists for the award across Ohio and northern Kentucky.
Criteria to be nominated includes football achievements, academic achievements, and other extracurricular activities. There will be several other honors also presented at the event.
Fickell has a tremendous amount of experience in Ohio that he is bringing to the Bearcats. He has spent his entire coaching career in the state, starting out as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Ohio State, in 1999.
For two seasons, Fickel coached the defensive line at Akron before returning to the Buckeyes staff in 2002. He has served in a variety of roles at OSU, including serving as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach since 2005.
In 2011, Fickell was the interim head coach at Ohio State and led them to a 6-7 record. He was the AFCA's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2010.
