New Denver Nuggets Guard Jamal Murray Signs Endorsement Deal with Adidas

It has been a whirlwind week for former Kentucky guard Jamal Murray.  Last night, he was the seventh overall pick in the NBA Draft and he also agreed to a lucrative endorsement deal with Adidas leading up to Thursday's events.

Murray was one of five lottery picks to agreed to shoe and apparel contracts with the sportswear giant.  The others to join him include the second through fifth picks in the draft, Brandon IngramJaylen Brown, Dragan Bender and Kris Dunn.

The haul for Adidas is impressive.  They are looking to heavily invest in individual player brands since their deal as the NBA's official outfitter expires after this upcoming season.

Murray will have ample opportunity to make it a worthwhile partnership as a feature player with the Nuggets.  His one season at Kentucky indicates he may have the scoring punch that Denver needs.

In 36 games as a freshman, Murray averaged 20 points per game.  He was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press and was a first-team All-SEC pick.

Hailing from Kitchener, Ontario, Murray is the latest in a recent list of Canadian basketball standouts.  Prior to arriving in Lexington, he played at Orangeville Prep and put the school on the hoops map with fellow 2016 lottery pick Thon Maker.
