New Oklahoma City Thunder star Victor Oladipo has been making the rounds around town to get himself acquainted with the community. With the loss of Kevin Durant to free agency, he has been working to get one of the NBA's best fanbases excited for a new era of basketball.
During the preseason, Oladipo made an appearance at a U.S. Cellular store where the first 20 kids to show up got to play basketball with him. Last week, he stopped by the Finish Line in the Penn Square Mall as part of his partnership with Jordan Brand.
Even though the Thunder are now in the midst of the regular season, Oladipo has another visit scheduled for Saturday. He will be at the Dick's Sporting Goods in the Westgate Marketplace from 2-4 p.m.
Oladipo is expected to team with All-Star Russell Westbrook to form a new dynamic backcourt in Oklahoma City. He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Orlando Magic after being the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.
There were certainly times during his Magic tenure where Oladipo showed flashes of stardom. He was named to the NBA's All-Rookie first team in 2014 after averaging 13.8 points, 4.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Oladipo had his best season in 2015, when he averaged 17.9 points per game and participated in the Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend. Prior to jumping to the NBA, he was a consensus first-team All-American and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year at Indiana University.
