After a stellar 2016 season, New York Giants safety Landon Collins is hosting a celebrity softball game on Friday. The event takes place at Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona, New York and features several current and former Giants stars.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and fans will be treated to a dodgeball game and home run derby prior to the softball game at 8 p.m. Current players like Eli Manning and Jason Pierre-Paul make up one roster while former standouts like Brandon Jacobs and Amani Toomer will line up on the other side of the field.
Individual tickets are $20 and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. Diehard fan Joe Ruback, who is better known as "License Plate Guy", originally conceived the idea and pitched it to Collins in January.
Collins recorded 125 tackles, four sacks and five interceptions in 2016. He was named to the Pro Bowl, selected as a first-team All-Pro and was voted the NFC Defensive Player of the Year.
That performance followed up on a rookie campaign where Collins started all 16 games and registered 112 tackles. The Giants originally selected him in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Collins played college football at Alabama, where he was part of two Southeastern Conference Championship teams and the 2013 BCS National Champions. He was a unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC pick in 2014.
