Buick picked one of the NFL's biggest stars to headline their first Super Bowl commercial in company history. New York Giants standout wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. headlined the "Big Day" ad.
The commercial is promoting the Buick Cascada, which is the automaker's first convertible car in 25 years. Beckham offitiates a wedding bouquet catch by actress Emily Ratajkowski in the spot as other wedding attendees remark that Ratajkowski "Odell'd It" on the grab.
With the commercial's stars, Buick is hoping to market the Cascada to a younger audience. Beckham certainly pushed that message as well as he talked about the ad in the lead-up to its release.
Beckham Jr. is no stranger to success at the pro level. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons and was a second team All-Pro in 2015.
With 176 catches in his first two seasons, no player in league history has amassed more receptions to start a career than Beckham Jr. He has accomplished all of this in a short timespan despite missing the first four games of his rookie year due to a hamstring injury.
Beckham Jr. took the league by storm in 2014, winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He also had a one-handed touchdown catch on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys that is considered one of the best plays of all-time.
