Adidas has been making a larger commitment to the football world and they have just agreed to a deal with one of the stars of the 2016 NFL rookie class. New York Jets linebacker Darron Lee is the brand's latest endorser.
The news was broken on Twitter by none other than reigning Super Bowl MVP Von Miller. MIller agreed to a deal to become the face of Adidas' FREAK football cleats shortly after the Super Bowl.
Certainly having a player with Lee's potential is great for Adidas. It also does not hurt that he plays in America's biggest media market.
The Jets selected Lee 20th overall this past spring in the NFL Draft. He is currently in training camp fighting for a starting job and has turned some heads with a few big plays.
Lee's performance so far mirrors the devastation he caused on the football field at Ohio State. Over the past two seasons, he ranks second in sacks and tackles-for-loss within the Buckeyes program.
As a sophomore, Lee was named a second-team Associated Press All-American and second-team All-Big Ten selection. In his final game, he recorded seven tackles in two sacks in a Fiesta Bowl victory against Notre Dame.
Lee made his OSU debut in 2014 and took home freshman All-American honors from several publications. He was Sugar Bowl Defensive MVP and helped the Buckeyes win the inaugural College Football Playoff.
