New York Yankees Manager Joe Girardi Speaks at FAU Baseball Fundraiser

Yesterday, New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi was in Boca Raton, Florida to help the Florida Atlantic University baseball program raise money. He was the keynote speaker for their Line Drive Luncheon.

The event was held at the FAU Football Stadium Delray Acura Club. Girardi spoke to the sold-out crowd about supporting programs like the one at FAU.

Following his presentation, he answered audience questions along with the FAU baseball coach, John McCormack. The Owls kick off their season at home on February 17th against Monmouth.

Girardi has been the Yankees skippers since 2008 and in that time he has compiled over 800 wins. New York won the 2009 World Series under his watch and have made the postseason five times overall.

Prior to arriving on the Yankees bench, Girardi managed the Florida Marlins in 2006. Despite the team having baseball's lowest payroll, he guided them to a 78-84 record and was named National League Manager of the Year.

Over a 15-year playing career, Girardi became one of the most respected catchers in baseball. He won three World Series titles with the Yankees and was an All-Star in 2000 with the Chicago Cubs.
