Former dominant NFL linebacker Bart Scott has made a successful transition into his post-football life. As a speaker at the UFC Veteran Athlete Summit on October 28th, he was trying to help other sports stars prepare for the same drastic change.
20 hand-picked fighters were selected by the UFC to attend the event. They were briefed on a range of topics that included financiale management, entrepreneurship and community impact.
After hosting a more general summit in years past, this was the first time the UFC put on something specifically for veterans. In addition to sharing stories and advice, Scott also talked about the prospects of the NFL coming to Las Vegas, a hub of many fighters.
Scott remains in the spotlight as an analyst on the CBS Sunday pregame show, "The NFL Today." His television success mirrors the excellence he exhibited on the football field during an 11-year career.
For the first seven years of his career, Scott was a member of the one of the most dominant defenses in football with the Baltimore Ravens. He was named a Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro in 2006.
In 2009, Scott joined his former defensive coodinator Rex Ryan with the New York Jets. He played his final four years with the franchise and went to back-to-back AFC Championship games in 2010 and 2011.
