If Oakland Athletics fans paid close attention to the Super Bowl commercials last night, they may have recognized a familiar face.  Team ace Sonny Gray made an appearance in an ad for Comcast Xfinity. 

The spot was for the X1 cable system.  Gray can be seen firing a successful pitch over the plate and being congratulated by his catcher. 

He originally shot the scene this January in Vancouver.  It is just the latest recognition for a pitcher who broke onto the scene in a big way in 2015.

Gray made his first All-Star appearance last season and finished with a 14-7 record and 2.73 ERA.  He was third in American League Cy Young Award voting as well. 

Gray has started Opening Day for the A's in back-to-back seasons.  In 2014, he was a two-time winner of the AL Pitcher of the Month award in his first full big league season.

Gray debuted for Oakland midway through the 2013 campaign and helped the franchise clinch the AL West.  The A's originally drafted him in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft.
