Oakland Raiders defensive standout Khalil Mack has an emerging profile as one of the league's top young stars. He capitalized off that this week, signing an endorsement deal with Mack Trucks.
Certainly, the truck company will look to do a play on words with Mack's name in the advertising they build around him. The idea to do a deal with Mack Trucks actually originally came from another Bay Area sports star, the Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green.
Mack Trucks are hoping that Mack specifically helps them with their social media marketing and reaching a younger demographic. He already had pre-existing partnerships with Nike and New Era.
Mack had a banner 2016 season and led the Raiders to their first playoff season since 2002. He was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-Pro.
Mack is a two-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro. In 2014, he started all 16 games and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Oakland originally selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Buffalo, where he was the MAC Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-American in 2013.
