Olympic Champion Dorothy Hamill Speaks at Health Conference

As one of America's most beloved Olympians, Dorothy Hamill is an in-demand speaker. Most recently, she spoke at the 10th annual A Women's Journey health conference. 

On January 26th, she spoke at the event hosted by Johns Hopkins Medicine at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. There were eight different seminars on various diseases. 

Hamill was interviewed by Psychiatrist Dr. Karen Swartz. She spoke about her battles with cancer and depression. 

Hamill captured the imagination of a nation at the 1976 Olympics. She took home the gold medal in ladies' singles in Innsbruck, Austria. 

In the build-up to those Games, Hamill won silver in ladies' singles at the 1974 and 1975 World Championships. She won gold at the 1976 World Championships and then retired from competition. 

From 1977-1984, Hamill headlined the traveling Ice Capades tour. She is a member of the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame and the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
