The University of Central Oklahoma is getting set for a visit from a former Olympic champion. Laurie Henandez is the next presenter for the Student Association's speaker series.
The event takes place tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Constitution Hall in the Nigh University Center. Hernandez will share stories from her Olympic journey and talk about what had contributed to her success.
She will also take part in a question and answer session and a meet and greet. Tickets are free and the public is welcome to attend, but UCO is issuing just 175 student tickets.
In 2016, Hernandez helped Team USA win gold and she also captured an individual silver medal on the balance beam. Earlier in the year, she won four bronze medals at the United States Championships.
Hernandez originally began her elite career at the age of 12 in 2012 and joined the senior national team in 2016. In January, she told her story with the release of the book, I Got This: To Gold and Beyond.
Hernandez was also the winner of season 23 of Dancing with the Stars. She was the youngest winner in show history at the age of 16.
