The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast is hosting an upcoming event with one of the great American Olympic champions. Jackie Joyner-Kersee will speak at their Annual Steak & Shake fundraising dinner.
The fundraiser will be held at 6:30 p.m. on September 21st. Club members will be present to share their stories and how they are helped by the organization.
There will be a member sitting at every table. VIP tickets are still available and those guarantee access to the VIP suite at 5 p.m.
Joyner-Kersee competed at four Olympics and won six medals, including three golds. She won three medals in long jump and three medals in the heptathlon.
Joyner-Kersee was a four-time gold medalist at the World Championships. She won the Jesse Owens Award as the top track and field athlete in the United States in 1986 and 1987.
Joyner Kersee still holds the world record in the heptathlon and ranks second all-time in the long jump. She is still involved in the sport as a member of the USA Track & Field Board of Directors.
