Comcast Business is trying to grab a big piece of the publicity that comes with being involved in the Olympics. As part of their deal as an official partner of the United States Olympic Committee, they are now working with two sports legends, Scott Hamilton and Jim Craig.
Hamilton and Craig will promote the brand at official events and be involved with all Comcast related business. They recently worked with the pair as the Winter Olympics hit PyeongChang and plan to do more down the road.
Comcast Business is working with the USOC through the Olympic and Paralympic summer games in Tokyo in 2020. Craig and Hamilton both expressed their excitement about the partnership in a release.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to partner with Comcast in their role as a United States Olympic Committee sponsor. Comcast is a company like no other. Through their platforms, our athletes have access to the most cutting-edge technology to help prepare them to bring their best performances. And Comcast's sponsorship funding allows them to concentrate on their sport first. Spectators benefit as well, through Comcast’s vast array of viewing options. As an Olympian, I personally understand the enormous need for technology and funding, and am honored to be associated with Comcast’s commitment to excellence,” said Scott Hamilton.
"It is such an honor to partner with Comcast Business, they are true professionals. Their commitment to excellence is shown through their dependable network with high speed, performance, and reliability. Their partnership with the USOC through 2020 allows athletes to live out their dreams and allows fans to feel like we are part of their journey,” said Jim Craig.
Hamilton is arguably still the biggest name attached to men’s figure skating even decades removed from his competitive career. He skated to worldwide fame by winning an Olympic gold medal in 1984.
He was also the U.S. and world champion for four straight years from 1981-84. After his amateur career, Hamilton turned professional and became a driving force in the creation of the Stars On Ice tour.
He also has been a popular television commentator for NBC Sports. Hamilton is a member of the United States Olympic Hall of Fame.
Craig has been in the spotlight since being the goaltender on the “miracle on ice” U.S. hockey team that won a gold medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics. He memorably stopped 36 of 39 shots against the Soviet Union in the legendary semifinal match of that Olympic tournament.
Craig went on to play in the NHL for parts of three seasons. He later founded Gold Medal Strategies and has consulted over 300 organizations on strategic direction.
He is a popular motivational speaker and is always sharing fun anecdotes from that memorable run to the gold. Craig was inducted into the International Hockey Hall of Fame along with his teammates from Team USA in 1999.
