The star of the Rio Olympics, Simone Biles, made a special appearance last week in San Francisco to help out a charity for foster children. She was the guest speaker at a fundraiser for John Burton Advocates for Youth.
The event was held on Thursday at the Fairmont Hotel. It began with dinner at 6 p.m. while dinner and the full program followed at 7 p.m.
Biles was interviewed during the presentation by Belva Davis. She talked about her background of being put into a foster home and having her foster parents adopt her.
With that strong upbringing, Biles has been able to reach unprecedented heights in gymnastics. She won four gold medals and a bronze this summer, including the all-around and team titles.
Biles set an American women's gymnastics record with her four golds at one Games. Her combined Olympic and World Championship medal haul is 19, which makes her the most decorated female gymnast in U.S. history.
After winning her third-straight all-around World Championship title, Biles was named Team USA Female Olympic Athlete of the Year. She became the first American female gymnast to serve as flag bearer for the Olympic closing ceremonies.
