Olympic Swimming Star Kylie Masse Holds Hometown Appearance

Canadian Olympic hero Kylie Masse was honored Friday in her hometown of LaSalle, Ontario. There was a celebration at the LaSalle outdoor pool followed by a parade down Front Road. 

Masse also signed autographs for her fans during the appearance. The event was free and there was also a barbecue and plenty of family activities. 

Masse has become a hero to an entire generation of Canadians for her swimming achievements. The crowd was certainly excited to meet the hometown star. 

At the 2016 Olympics, Masse won an Olympic bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke. She set the world record in the event this year at the World Aquatics Championship.

With the victory, she became the first Canadian woman to be a world champion. She has three other World Championship medals. 

Masse originally established herself as a swimming standout at the University of Toronto. She won the 100 m backstroke at the 2015 Summer Universiade and was the CIS swimmer of the year.
