Orlando Magic point guard Elfrid Payton is headed back to his home state once again for a youth basketball clinic. This will be the second time he runs the free clinic on behalf of his foundation.
The session will be held on July 31st from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alario Center in Westwego, Louisiana. On-site registration takes place from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Kids ages 8-17 can participate in the clinic. They will get a Payton autograph, camp t-shirt and team photo in addition to the excellent basketball instruction.
Payton recently finished his second NBA season and appears prime to take a huge step forward in year three. Last season, he averaged 10.7 points and 6.4 assists per game.
In each of Payton's first two seasons, he has been a participant in the Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend. Right before his first appearance in the game, he was named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month in Jianuary 2015.
The Magic made a draft night trade to acquire Payton in 2014 after he was selected tenth overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. He played college basketball at Louisiana-Lafayette, where he was a two-time first-team All-Sun Belt selection.
