There is little doubt that Peyton Manning is the biggest sports celebrity in the state of Colorado. This spring, Manning will be up in the northern part of the state to honor their very best student-athletes.
On May 17th, the Denver Broncos quarterback will be the keynote speaker at The Coloradoan’s Sports Awards banquet in Fort Collins. Each week during this school year, a male and female athlete of the week is being chosen.
All those athletes and several coaches will come together at the end of the year to be recognized and hear Manning speak. Brown’s Shoe Fit Company and Eye Center of Northern Colorado are just two of the early sponsors on board to bring the event together.
The 39-year-old Manning still has the Broncos 4-0 to start the 2015 season. He has thrown for 968 yards with 6 touchdowns while completing 63.6 percent of his passes so far.
Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play and is the all-time NFL leader in passing touchdowns. He has been to a record 14 Pro Bowls and been league MVP five times.
Manning came to Denver after spending the first 14 years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts. In 2007, he was MVP of Super Bowl XLI as the Colts toppled the Chicago Bears 29-17.
