This morning, Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle was the keynote speaker at an important community event. He spoke at the Forbes Hospital Interfaith Prayer Breakfast.
There were 300 people on hand for the engagement which ran from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Monroeville DoubleTree Hotel. Religious leaders from different denominations across the city were there as well.
The event was meant to share a message of unity, peace and health. Due to his popularity in the city, Hurdle was certainly a great choice that appealed to guests of different backgrounds.
In six seasons with the Pirates, Hurdle has made three postseason appearances. They won 94 games in 2013 and he was named National League Manager of the Year.
Prior to becoming the skipper in Pittsburgh, Hurdle managed the Colorado Rockies from 2002-09. He reached the pinnacle of his career in 2007, guiding the Rockies to the World Series.
Hurdle originally started working in the Colorado organization in 1994 as a minor league hitting instructor. He also had a ten-year major league playing career.
