Pittsburgh Steelers Great J.T. Thomas Speaks at Penn State Altoona Monday

Today, a legend of the Pittsburgh Steelers spoke at Penn State Altoona. J.T. Thomas spoke at their eighth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Reflection Luncheon.

The event was held at noon at Adler gymnasium. It is sponsored by the Office of Institutional Equity, Diversity, and International Student Services.

The luncheon is free and open to the public. Many in the area will certainly be excited to hear Thomas speak and remember his exploits as a Steeler.

Thomas spent nine of his ten pro seasons in Pittsburgh. He was a first round pick of the franchise in 1973 and went on to win four Super Bowls.

In 1976, Thomas was selected to his only Pro Bowl. He spent the majority of his career with fellow corner Mel Blount, a duo regarded as one of the best in NFL history.

Before joining the Steelers, Thomas was the first African-American player in Florida State University history. Since retiring, he has lived in Pennsylvania and invested in restaurants.
