The breakout star of the baseball postseason has been the New York Mets’ outfielder Daniel Murphy. As the Mets get ready to start the World Series on Tuesday, Murphy is one a historic tear, with a home run in a record six straight games.
That brings up the interesting question of what the financial future may hold for the NLCS MVP. CNN Money did an interesting profile asking that question last week.
Rest assured, Murphy is set for a huge payday. In addition to the 30-year-old being an impending free agent, he is also likely to collect on endorsements playing in the country’s largest media market.
Murphy is currently hitting .529 during the playoffs and has hit seven homers in total. He has hit some of his long balls against a few of the game’s best pitchers, including Jake Arrieta, Zack Greinke, Jon Lester, and Clayton Kershaw.
This is certainly heady times for a player who had been mostly a role player throughout his career. He did make his first All-Star appearance last year after having the second highest average in the National League during the first half of the season.
Murphy has played his entire seven-year career with the Mets. He was drafted in the 13th round of the 2006 MLB Draft out of Jacksonville University.
