Pro Football Hall of Famer Alan Page knows a thing or two about the law. The former standout member of the Minnesota Vikings “Purple People Eater” defense of the 1970s became a respected state Supreme Court Justice.
Page will share lessons from football and his career on the bench at the 34th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner and Children’s Charity Fundraiser in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The event is scheduled for November 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Ramkota Exhibit Hall.
The dinner attracts 2,000 attendees annually. Tickets can still be purchased for $50 by calling 605-941-0054.
Page was on four Vikings Super Bowl squads. He was selected to nine straight Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro six times while he anchored the defense.
Page’s greatest year may have been 1971 when he swept the AP’s Defensive Player of the Year and MVP awards. He also showed promise for a post-football life by serving various roles with the NFL Players Association.
Upon retirement, Page worked his way up through the Minnesota legal scene. He was elected to the state’s Supreme Court in 1992 and reelected three more times before his mandatory retirement this year at the age of 70.
