One of the NFL's all-time greats is visiting Johnson City, Tennessee on Friday. Pro Football Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas is speaking at the Salvation Army Souper Bowl for the Hungry.
The 22nd annual event takes place at the Holiday Inn. Each year, the local Salvation Army chapter welcomes a football icon to help raise money for their homeless shelter.
They expect to generate over $30,000 for Salvation Army services. A limited number of tickets remain and they can be purchased by calling the Salvation Army Johnson City.
The Buffalo Bills originally selected Thomas in the first round of the 1988 NFL Draft. He played 12 of his 13 seasons for the franchise and was a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro.
Thomas led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage four straight seasons and was the 1991 NFL MVP. He also helped the Bills reach four Super Bowls and set playoff records for points and touchdowns.
Thomas is Buffalo's all-time leading rusher with 11,938 yards. In addition to being a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame.
